What once began in 1909 has become the most iconic sporting event of all time in the Netherlands, and that while the last Elfstedentocht was held in 1997.
When the mercury threatens to drop just a little below zero, Elfsteden fever already flares up again. Tens of thousands are still members of the association and the recent musical 'De Tocht' is a great success. The Elfstedentocht is never far away!
